SCoS Conference 2019 – Improving Workplace Mental Health

In place of our usually meeting, SGWS members will be attending the SCoS Conference on October 30th at The Lighthouse. Health & Safety professionals from across Scotland will gather at The Lighthouse in Glasgow for an exceptional conference focused on improving the mental health of our workplaces. New session starts with Legal Update

On the 11th September, in our first session of the new programme, we welcome back Lindsay MacNeill of BTO Solicitors. Lindsay has presented several times and is very knowledgeable when discussing members questions. Joining BTO in 2012, Lindsay moved to Pinsent Masons in 2016, before returning to BTO in March 2018. Lindsay trained as a solicitor with the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) and worked on a number of high profile cases within the Proceeds of Crime Unit. Guidance for Fire Safety in Specialised Housing

Ash Denham, Community Safety Minister, today launched a consultation on fire safety guidance. The Guidance has been drafted to deliver on the sixth recommendation from the Review of the Fire Safety Regime for High Rise Domestic Buildings in Scotland. The Review’s other recommendations relate to fire safety in high rise domestic buildings and were agreed by the Scottish Government Ministerial Working Group on Building and Fire Safety that was set up following the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower.
