On Wednesday the 8th February at 2pm we look forward to welcoming Ian Tasker from the STUC. Ian is an Assistant Secretary and has been with the Scottish Trades Union Congress since 2001, having spent 20 years working for the Clydesdale Bank. He has responsibility for developing and implementing policy on health and safety, employment rights and occupational pensions, disabled and young workers.
Throughout his time with the STUC Ian has worked closely with the Scottish Government in a number of key areas including corporate homicide and liaises with the TUC on a wide range of health and safety issues including the need for statutory safety duties to be placed on individual directors.
The STUC have been instrumental in encouraging successive Scottish Governments to take action to improve health and safety in Scottish workplaces, initiatives that have led to the Partnership for Health and Safety in Scotland, the specialist Health and Safety Prosecution Division within the COPFS and the Scottish Health and Safety Action Plan.
Ian will be speaking on the Fair Work Convention and how good health and safety is an important part of looking after your workforce.
